The original location was purchased in 1969 and the studio was added in the early 70’s. The studio was originally used for in-house publishing demos and personal projects. The atmosphere was always very casual and many folks just stopped by to raid the fridge or chill out with Cowboy. Creativity was always encouraged. Some of the artists that have recorded there include Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, Charley Pride and John Prine. Cowboy always had a passion for making home movies and The Cowboy Arms was eventually updated to accommodate video projects. People often referred to The Spa as “a big clubhouse” and would laugh at the number of people that actually had keys. There was always good food, folks and fun to be had. Not to mention the music that was being made throughout the house and big back yard with a swing. The Arms also hosted the very popular Libra Party for many years and good times were had by all that attended. Cowboy could often be found wearing his Elvis bathrobe and making vegetable soup in the kitchen. There was always a few four legged friends wandering around. Cowboy’s cat, Eugene, was always ready to show you his tricks and even made his way into a few album credits. The Spa may have changed locations but wherever the Spa goes, Cowboy goes with it. There’s always some good food, folks and fun at this location too and you can feel the Cowboy in every nook and cranny. So come on by for a soda pop and some fun.
